Our Story
Founded by Teachers, Driven by Community
In 1986, a group of dedicated educators in Peterborough, Ontario noticed something troubling: students were missing out on school trips, sports teams, and basic supplies — not because they didn't want to participate, but because their families couldn't afford it.
They started Teachers for Kids Foundation with a simple mission: ensure no child is left behind because of financial barriers. Forty years later, that mission has grown into a comprehensive support network helping over 1,200 students.

What People Say
Teachers for Kids Foundation stepped in when our family needed it most. My daughter was able to stay on her volleyball team and go on the grade 8 trip. These are memories she'll carry forever.
Rebecca M.
Parent, Peterborough
As a teacher, I see the difference Teachers for Kids Foundation makes every single day. When a child has what they need — a warm coat, school supplies, a chance to play on a team — everything changes. Their confidence grows, their grades improve, and they start believing in themselves.
Michael Thompson
Grade 5 Teacher, Kawartha Pine Ridge DSB
I volunteer with Teachers for Kids Foundation because I remember what it felt like to be the kid who couldn't afford the field trip. Every child deserves to participate, and this foundation makes sure they can.
